Move your stream to another OBS

At the top of My OBS you see the OBS that’s LIVE and for how long. Below, Move the stream to… lists your other OBS.

Each card has a single status line. When it says Ready to take the stream, you can move the stream to it. Otherwise it tells you what’s missing and how to fix it:

Status What to do
Disconnected “Open OBS on “…” to be able to move the stream to it.”
The stream service isn’t turned on yet In OBS, Tools → EnhancedIRL Switcher… and click Use EnhancedIRL Switcher
Streams to another channel Set the same platform and the same platform stream key on that OBS
Off (Cloud OBS) Click Turn on

Under the status, the Your viewers: … box tells you up front what they’ll see: no cut, a 1–2 s jump, a pause of a few seconds or the stream may end. It depends on the platform and on whether both OBS have the same picture; the details, and what to turn on in Twitch, are in Supported platforms.

  1. Open My OBS in the dashboard, from your computer or your phone.
  2. Under Move the stream to…, click Move the stream here on the OBS that will carry on with your stream.
  3. Check the confirmation window: What your viewers will see and, in green, what’s already been checked (same channel, same picture and what happens if the new OBS doesn’t start). You’ll only see warnings if something doesn’t add up: the resolution or frame rate changes, the two OBS stream to different channels or the platform is experimental.
  4. In those last two cases, tick I understand and want to continue anyway.
  5. Click Move the stream (or Move the stream anyway).
  6. Follow the switch on the timeline, with the seconds it’s taking. You can close the page: “the switch carries on. If something goes wrong, we’ll let you know in the bell.”
  7. When it’s done, a one-line summary stays, for example Live on “…” · no cut, with the platform’s check and how long it took.

The plugin shows a notice inside OBS: Your stream moved to “…”, with the time you asked for it from My OBS. It isn’t an error: that OBS stopped streaming because your stream carries on from the other one. Close it with Got it or go to the dashboard with Open My OBS.

At the end, the dashboard asks the platform whether it kept your stream:

You see What it means
“Twitch confirms it’s the same stream” (or Kick, or YouTube) All good: same stream, same counter
“The platform started a new stream” It ended your stream and opened another. On Twitch, it’s almost always Disconnect Protection being off
“We couldn’t check whether your stream was kept” The switch happened, but we couldn’t ask. On YouTube it happens if you haven’t connected your account

The previous one goes back on air by itself and your stream keeps going. The summary says Switch undone · the stream is still on “…”, with the reason, and we also let you know in the bell.

If the previous one can’t come back either, you’ll see “Neither OBS is streaming. Start the stream from either of them.” Do it straight away from OBS itself.

If you have a Cloud OBS, it shows up in My OBS on its own, with nothing to install, and doesn’t count towards the limit of two. It can’t be unlinked.

  • It has to stream to the same channel as your other OBS: set up its output in Going out to your platform.
  • If it’s Off, its card reminds you: “Turn it on ahead of time: it usually takes a couple of minutes, and then you can move the stream to it from here or from your phone.” Click Turn on.

Recent switches shows the five most recent; See all expands the rest. Each one shows its result (No cut, … s jump, … s pause, Undone or Failed) and, if the platform checked it, “Twitch confirms it”.
