Change plan

Within a family you move between plans whenever you like: up if you’re outgrowing it, down if it’s more than you need. Your scenes, your settings and your files are kept.

The three families

Moving within a row is changing plan. Jumping from one row to another isn’t: that’s subscribing to another product.

How to change

1. Go to Billing.
2. On the subscription row, hit Change plan.
3. Pick the plan you’re moving to. The dashboard sums up what changes: quality, keys, remote desktop and price.
4. Confirm.

You can also get there from the plans page: plans in a family you already have carry a Change to this plan button and open the same window.

What is kept

• The scenes, the OBS settings and the assets on your Cloud OBS.
• Your main key, which stays the same one: you don’t have to touch the encoder again.
• The server name, your overlays and your automatic scene switching.
• The subscription itself, with its invoices and its renewal date. You’re not starting another one.

This isn’t regenerating

Changing plan does not wipe the server. The thing that does take your scenes, settings and files with it is Regenerate, which is something else: Restart or regenerate.

When it takes effect

Nothing has been charged during the beta, so downgrades are immediate too.

Changed your mind about a downgrade that hasn’t landed yet? Go into Change plan again and pick the plan you’re on right now: the downgrade is called off.

Moving up

• More keys. The missing ones show up on their own under Stream Keys, ready to use.
• More quality. Resolution, fps and the bitrate caps all go up, incoming and outgoing.
• Remote desktop, if the new plan comes with it (OBS Standard and OBS Pro).
• If your plan comes with Cloud OBS, the server restarts to apply the new plan: whatever you’re broadcasting gets cut. It always does, because the new plan goes in as the server starts up. The dashboard warns you first and asks you to confirm. If you’re live, change plan once you’re done.
• If there’s no availability for the plan you’re moving up to right then, the dashboard says so and nothing is charged. Try again later.

Moving down

• Spare keys. If the new plan comes with fewer keys, the most recent ones stop working; the main one is always kept. The dashboard tells you which before you confirm.
• Quality. Resolution, fps and the bitrate caps become the new plan’s.
• Storage. The space you already had stays yours: it isn’t shrunk.
• Remote desktop. If the new plan doesn’t include it, the Desktop tab disappears.
• Going from Stream Key to Stream Key Lite you lose the ability to connect and control your own OBS.
• If your plan comes with Cloud OBS, the server restarts just as it does moving up, with the same warning and the same confirmation. If the downgrade is waiting for the end of the period, the restart comes with it.

Subscribing to another product

This is for a product in another family: you already have a stream key and you also want a Cloud OBS, or a failover.

1. Go to Billing and hit Get new product.
2. Move through the categories and hit Subscribe on the plan you want.
3. The first time, Before you continue shows up: tick I have read and accept the Terms and the Privacy Policy.
4. Pay on our payment provider’s page: card and billing details.

Back in the dashboard, the subscription shows up under Billing and its resources are created for you. What you already had carries on the same: same keys, same server, same renewal date.

If your account has Additional products, they’re at the bottom of the plans page: View add-ons, then Add. And if you had that product and cancelled it, the dashboard warns you with You already have a subscription to this product: hit Reactivate subscription and you get the same one back, with its resources, instead of starting another.

During the beta: one per family

You can only have one active subscription per family, so the servers go round for everyone. So if what you want is another plan in a family you already have, the way is Change plan, not a second subscription.

Where you see your subscriptions

In Billing, the Subscriptions table:

During the beta the normal status is Trial period, not Active: the subscription works, but nothing has been charged yet. End of the beta
