Install and link the EnhancedIRL Switcher plugin
When you’re done, your OBS will show up in My OBS as Ready to take the stream.
You need: OBS Studio 31 or later · your account with a verified email · 10 minutes
- Close OBS.
- Download the plugin for your system (table below). In My OBS, Download for… (or Download the plugin) already offers you the one for your computer.
- Install it as explained in Install for your system, below.
- Open OBS and go to Tools → EnhancedIRL Switcher…. A window with three steps opens.
- Under Link this OBS to your account, click Link this OBS. OBS shows you a code like
ABCD-EFGH, with its countdown, and opens your browser on the dashboard. If it doesn’t open, click Open the browser again. Log in if it asks you to. - The dashboard shows you the computer asking to be linked (name, system and OBS version) and asks “Does OBS show this same code?”. If it matches, click Link this OBS. The code expires after 10 minutes: if it does, click the button in OBS again.
- The dashboard waits on Last step, in OBS. In the plugin window, with OBS not streaming, click Use EnhancedIRL Switcher.
- The dashboard ticks itself off with Stream service turned on and the plugin turns Ready to move the stream green. From there, Open My OBS takes you to the dashboard.
- Optional, with the Stream Key plan: if you want to control this OBS from the dashboard, tick Allow remote control from EnhancedIRL in the same window. It comes off and you don’t need it to move the stream. → Control your OBS from My OBS
- Repeat these steps on your other OBS.

Windows. Unzip the .zip into C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins\. You should end up with the
enhancedirl-obs-switcher folder inside plugins.
macOS. Double-click the .tar.xz to open it and move enhancedirl-obs-switcher.plugin to
~/Library/Application Support/obs-studio/plugins/. Since it isn’t signed, run this once in
Terminal:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine ~/Library/Application\ Support/obs-studio/plugins/enhancedirl-obs-switcher.pluginLinux. From the folder you downloaded it to:
sudo tar -xJf enhancedirl-obs-switcher-x86_64-linux-gnu.tar.xz -C /usrIt’s tested on Ubuntu 24.04 or later. OBS installed with Flatpak isn’t supported.
The stream service
Section titled “The stream service”To take part in a switch, an OBS has to stream with the EnhancedIRL Switcher service. It has the same list of platforms and servers as OBS, and your platform’s stream key stays in your OBS.
Use EnhancedIRL Switcher makes the change for you: it keeps your platform, your server and your platform’s stream key, and you can undo it in Settings → Stream. It doesn’t work while you’re streaming: “Stop the stream first.” Once it’s done, the step says Streams with EnhancedIRL Switcher.
If you stream to Kick, which isn’t in OBS’s list, tick Custom server (not in the list) and paste the server URL and your Kick stream key, both from Kick. More details in Supported platforms.
To remove an OBS, use Unlink in the plugin window or in the ⋯ menu of its card in My OBS. Your stream settings don’t change.
Not working?
Section titled “Not working?”Tools → EnhancedIRL Switcher… doesn’t show up OBS hasn’t loaded the plugin. Check that you have OBS 31 or later, that the folder ended up in the right place and, on macOS, that you ran the Terminal command. Restart OBS.
“This code doesn’t exist or has expired. Get a new one from the plugin in OBS.” More than 10 minutes went by or the code doesn’t match. Click Link this OBS in OBS again. You can also type it by hand in My OBS with I have a code (or Link OBS, if you already have one).
“Verify your email to link an OBS: we sent you a link when you signed up.” Open the link in your sign-up email and link again.
“You already have your 2 OBS linked, the free plan maximum. Unlink one to add this one.” Unlink the one you no longer use from its ⋯ menu in My OBS.
