My OBS: move your stream from one OBS to another
With My OBS you move your stream from one OBS to another from the dashboard, without the platform ending it. Your viewers stay in the same stream, with the same counter: depending on the platform, they see no cut at all or a pause of a few seconds.
What it’s for
Section titled “What it’s for”- From home to the street. You start the stream on your home PC and, when you head out, you move it to your Cloud OBS, which carries on with your IRL camera.
- Back home. When you get back, you move it to your PC again.
- Between two PCs. From your streaming PC to your laptop, or the other way round, without ending the stream.
At the top of My OBS you see Where your stream is: the OBS that’s live and for how long. Below, under Move the stream to…, you have your other OBS, each with its Move the stream here button. You can trigger the switch from your computer or from your phone.
What it costs and its limits
Section titled “What it costs and its limits”| What | Details |
|---|---|
| Price | Free for any Enhanced IRL account, no subscription |
| Requirement | Verified email |
| Your own linked OBS | Up to 2 |
| Cloud OBS | Shows up on its own if you have one and doesn’t count towards the limit |
| OBS Studio | 31 or later |
On each of your own OBS you install the EnhancedIRL Switcher plugin, which is free and open source. Your Cloud OBS needs nothing: it comes ready.
Your platform’s stream key never leaves your OBS
Section titled “Your platform’s stream key never leaves your OBS”Your platform’s stream key stays in your OBS. All we check is that both OBS stream to the same channel. If they don’t match, the card tells you before you move anything: Streams to another channel.
How to get it running
Section titled “How to get it running”These are the same three steps the dashboard shows you:
- Install the plugin on each OBS you want to use.
- Link it to your account: the plugin shows you a code and you confirm it in the dashboard.
- Turn on the stream service: one click in the plugin window. It keeps your platform, your server and your platform’s stream key.
Then you move the stream from My OBS whenever you need to. If the new OBS doesn’t start, the previous one goes back on air by itself and we let you know in the bell: your stream keeps going.
Which platforms work
Section titled “Which platforms work”Twitch, Kick and YouTube are tested. On any other platform switching is experimental and the platform may end your stream and start a new one. On Twitch you need to turn on Disconnect Protection: it’s all in Supported platforms.
Control your OBS from the dashboard
Section titled “Control your OBS from the dashboard”With the Stream Key plan, each OBS’s page in My OBS also lets you run it remotely: the Control tab (scenes, stream and audio), Scene switching (switch on its own when your feed drops) and Link (a control widget for your moderator). For that you tick Allow remote control from EnhancedIRL in the plugin window; it comes off. Moving the stream is still free even without that plan. → Control your OBS from My OBS
