Vertical output

Your Cloud OBS puts out two streams at once from the same incoming feed: the usual landscape one to Twitch or Kick, and a 9:16 vertical one to TikTok or Instagram.

You need: a Cloud OBS on OBS Standard or OBS Pro · the Vertical output add-on · a streaming channel for the vertical destination · 5 minutes

The vertical canvas comes from rotating your plan’s canvas, so it never goes above what you’re already paying for. It isn’t available on OBS Basic.

Turning it on

1. Open your server and go to the OBS control tab.
2. Find the Vertical output card and hit Subscribe · €29/mo. If you already pay for one and it isn’t in use on another server, you’ll see Turn on vertical output instead and you’re not charged again.
3. Turning it on restarts the server (under a minute), because it changes the resources it needs. Do it before you go live, not halfway through.
4. Under Vertical destination, pick the channel it should go to and hit Save destination. You add it like any other, in Account → Streaming channels.
5. Hit Start streaming. Both go out together.

You can also buy it with the server Stopped: it’s saved and applied the next time it starts, with no extra restart.

Don’t turn it on while live

While you’re live, turning the vertical output on or off would cut your stream, so the dashboard won’t let you. The destination you can still change: it applies to your next stream.

What the vertical shows

The vertical canvas starts with your incoming feed fitted inside it, whole and centred. That’s enough to go live without touching anything: what comes in from your phone or encoder goes back out in 9:16 too.

It’s an ordinary scene in your OBS, so from the remote desktop you edit it like any other: crop the picture so it fills the height, add a title, put a background behind it. What you change in the vertical doesn’t touch the landscape one, and the other way round: they’re two separate scenes.

If you’d already built it yourself

If there’s already something of yours on the vertical canvas, nothing is touched. The automatic fit only happens when it’s empty.

Moving it to another Cloud OBS

The add-on is tied to one server, but not forever: turn it off where it is and turn it on in the other one. You’re not charged twice and you don’t have to buy anything new.

If you have several Cloud OBS and want vertical on two at once, that’s two add-ons: each one takes up capacity on the server where it’s switched on.
