Your OBS control widget

The control widget is a link that opens the controls of the OBS at your house without signing in. You hand it to your moderator, or open it on a second device, and from there your stream can be run without touching your account.

You need: the Stream Key plan · remote control turned on in that OBS · 2 minutes

  1. In My OBS, open your OBS and go to the Link tab.
  2. Click Create and copy the link.
  3. Read the warning, This link gives control of your OBS, and confirm with Got it, show the link.
  4. The link appears in a field and gets copied on its own. If it didn’t, click Copy.
  5. Send it to that person over a private channel.

It expires after 30 days: the tab tells you The link expires on…. While it’s still valid, the button changes to Show and copy the link and gives you the same link back, not a new one. You can create it before the stream, even with your OBS closed.

With the link, people can Never
Switch scenes, Studio Mode included See or change your platform’s stream key
Start and stop the stream Touch your stream settings or any other OBS setting
Turn the audio up, down or mute it Touch your files
See the stream’s and your computer’s stats See anything in your account: not your keys, your billing or your other OBS

It only works with your OBS open and remote control on in the plugin. If you untick the option, the link stops answering until you tick it again.

The name of your OBS, a badge (Connected, Disconnected or LIVE) and the same controls you have in the Control tab. They may see two notices:

What they see What it means
This OBS isn’t available right now Your OBS is closed or has remote control off. The controls come back on their own as soon as it can be controlled
Invalid or expired link You revoked it, the 30 days are up, you unlinked that OBS or your account no longer has the Stream Key plan. A new one has to be created

Revoking cuts access instantly, also for whoever has it open at that moment.

  • This link: in the Link tab, click Revoke and confirm. You’ll see Link revoked: it no longer works.
  • All of them at once: Account → Security → Revoke links. It kills the widgets of all your OBS, the ones at home and those of your Cloud OBS servers. It’s the panic button if one has leaked and you don’t know which.

A revoked link doesn’t come back: to share it again, create a new one.

On a Cloud OBS, the widget comes from the Widget button on the server’s page, with its own warning and also 30 days.
